I was born in Providence, RI in 1979. My parents, Anthony & Kalliope, primarily spoke Greek in the household making Greek my first language. As a young child, my family and I lived in our apartment house in Pawtucket, RI. My sister, Artemis, & I attended Potter Burns Elementary School in Pawtucket until I was in 1st grade. Throughout my childhood, we vacationed for the full summer season on the island of Skyros, Greece -- my parents' birthplace.

In 1987, my family moved back to Greece for a year where we lived in our apartment in Pangrati, Athens. There, I attended 2nd grade at the American Community School of Athens. That was a memorable year because I had the opportunity to spend the winter-time with our relatives and to witness the "apokries", the Skyrian Festival, for the first time. My experience living in Athens that year allowed me to absorb the Greek culture from a non-parental source.

We returned to the United States in the fall of 1988 and moved into our new home in suburban Rehoboth, MA just before Christmas. I attended 3rd grade at Palmer River Elementary School in Rehoboth. Every Sunday I attended Liturgy at the Assumption of Virgin Mary, Pawtucket, RI as an altar boy. During elementary school my parents enrolled me in karate, Greek school, and classical guitar lessons.

I continued my education in Beckwith Middle School in Rehoboth. During those years, I spent much of my time playing guitar. I took lessons from Frank Cavalari at Arruda School of Music in Pawtucket, RI. I began listening to the albums from the band Metallica, which would later become highly influential in my guitar playing. I graduated Beckwith at the top of my class.

In the fall of 1993 I attended Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School. I played freshman football, became the Features editor in the Falcon Flyer†, and later founded the men's volley ball team with several other friends in 1995. Guitar became a prominent part of my life as I began composing my own music. I placed 1st at the ATAM Guitar Championship* in April of 1996. I was then invited to perform the piece "Leyenda" by Asturias as the special event of my high school's Pops concert. I graduated from Dighton-Rehoboth in 1997 and was accepted to Boston University.

*This is an annual music competition, held at the Marriot of Newton,MA, which brings together students from music schools from all over the New England area to compete.
